@Chris I had meant for this to mean "Lives Remaining". Will have to check out some other games to see what the standard is.

@Matt The source isn't ready for public consumption but there's excellent demo code over at the PushButton Engine site.

@blend101 The asteroids are temporary until I either instantly become an artist or have someone help me. But to your question, I believe there are solutions out there that let you convert 3d animations to 2d sprite sheets. Tim Aste from PushButton Labs shared a bunch of links to game asset resources here: http://pushbuttonengine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=90&start=0&hilit=resources#p486

Nice man, it's coming along :D
How did you generate the asteroids, I mean is it like an animation (how they rotate in what looks like 3d)

Very nice! Needs explosions though.

Is the source available? I think some of my advanced students would like to read it.

Nice. The fonts are a real nice addition.

I would have expected the Lives counter to count down from 3 to 1 and then go to zero when the game ended. As is, your last life reads as "Lives: 0" and then remains unchanged when you die for the final time.
